The Illinois MIgrant Council is continuing its major initiative to recruit farmworkers who are eligible inder the Workforce Investment Act to enroll in its training programs for high growth occupations.

Staff of agencies and organizations in Illinois' workforce development system and any other service providers are encouraged to contact the nearest IMC office when they meet with any farmworkers who may be eligible for the program.

IMC offers eligible farmworkers the opportunity to:

  • learn English to prepare for the workplace
  • obtain on-the-job training
  • individualized counseling leading to employment that  meets the particpant's needs, interests and abilties
  • assistance with attending vocational / occupational schools
  • developing a job that is stable, year round with higher wages than seasonal farmwork
  • assistance with accessing One Stop Career Center services and using the Illinois workNet portal.
  • many other services leading to employment
IMC offers employers:
  • pre-screening of employee prospects
  • assistance in fulfilling equal employment opportunity goals
  • full time employees
  • a pool of job ready employees
  • employees with ESL proficiency
  • matching employees to job order specifications
  • a dependable resource for talent development
In 2007, IMC began participating through its memberships on Local Workforce Investment Boards in Illinois' Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) activities.
