IMC offers referrals to local educational institutions for basic skills proficiency instruction in English as a Second Language.

Illinois employers seek adequate basic skills preparation for employees at every job level, frequently requiring applicants to have reading, writing, computational and problem solving skills which are viewed in terms of an employee's productivity to the employer.

Supplementary instruction and/or counseling prepares students as prospective employees for the workplace and includes:

  • orientation to a non-agricultural work environment
  • understanding directions
  • communicating with supervisors and co-workers
  • comprehending working conditions and job expectations
  • occupational exploration
  • worker rights and responsibilities
IMC also offers bilingual pre-citizenship preparation instruction  to farmworkers interested in U.S. naturalization.
